Contests aired daily on FM radio stations across America, showcased the bands competing for airplay, escalated cash prizes and the winner received a Capitol Records contract. The listeners decided which unsigned artist stayed on the air, voted via SMS, web, or by dialing Cingular‘s exclusive “*8″ service
